A Biblical Theology of Marriage and Family Discipleship
Saturday, August 15th @ 9:00am

We continue our series of monthly seminars at Council Tree presented by North Park Theological Seminary faculty. July’s seminar will be presented by Max Lee, Professor of New Testament.

A Biblical Theology of Marriage and Family Discipleship

The workshop taught by Max Lee from North Park Theological Seminary outlines a biblical theology of Marriage and Family Discipleship based on the building blocks of grace, perseverance, and faith. It looks at several "marriage texts" in the Pauline Letters and the teachings of Jesus (Ephesians 5:18-33; Mark 10:2-16) and interprets them within a larger redemptive narrative of God's disruption of sin and the Holy Spirit's transforming work. It also talks about the role of the church in resourcing, shepherding, and supporting marriages and families. The church is facing a crisis of failing to reach a new generation of youth. The church is called to live as an ecclesial family to empower families within their congregation through its example and intentional discipleship. The seminar is part lecture and part forum of interactive questions and discussion.
