Huddle Groups

What is a Huddle Group?

A Huddle Group is a 9-session intensive small group experience with 5-8 others that gives significant intentional priority and energy to learn how to live more like Jesus did. They are safe but challenging places of learning that center on Scripture and how spiritual, emotional, and relational maturity are inescapably linked. They are short-term groups we can count on and trust with a higher level of time investment and commitment. Huddle Groups include the incorporation of spiritual practices and reading in between group sessions. They are places of teaching, discussion, authentic relationship, non-judgmental accountability, and genuine transformation. Our hope is that Huddle Groups will help build a culture of intentional discipleship where we are raising and releasing Christ-like servants and leaders to do the work of ministry (Eph. 4:11-13).

One of the unique aspects of Huddle Groups is the culture of “we all meet of we don’t meet.” This means that every group meeting will have 100% attendance and if any member becomes unavailable then that session is re-scheduled to a time when everybody can be present. The reason for this is that each person in a group is so essential to that group that it would not be the same without you. Some groups finish in a few months, others take closer to nine months – it all depends on the availability of the people in each group. While we hope that you find people that can love, challenge, and encourage you in your Huddle Group, these are short-term groups on purpose and we release each other of the expectation to be life-long best friends or to develop into an ongoing small group – that simply is not the purpose of a Huddle Group.

Discipleship, however, is a lifelong pursuit of learning to be with Jesus so that we can be like Jesus, and we need companions for the journey. Because of this, we have three Tracks of Huddle Groups as we grow in three distinct areas of our discipleship to Christ. Track One is all about Communion – our personal transformation in Christ. Track Two is all about Community – learning to love others as Jesus loved. Track Three is all about Co-Mission – the ways we partner with God in the work of His Kingdom. These three Tracks function progressively, so participants begin with Track One and then have the option to move forward in subsequent years. Participants will need to purchase the materials for whichever Track you enroll from Council Tree (at a discount rate).

The content for each track includes…

  • Track One: Emotionally Healthy Spirituality by Pete Scazzero, Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Workbook by Pete & Geri Scazzero, and Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day: A 40 Day Journey with the Daily Office by Pete Scazzero

  • Track Two: Emotionally Healthy Relationships Workbook by Pete & Geri Scazzero, Emotionally Healthy Relationships Day by Day: A 40 Day Journey to Deeply Change Your Relationships by Pete Scazzero, and Living into Community: Cultivating Practices That Sustain Us by Christine Pohl
