Saturday, June 20th @ 9:00am
We continue our series of monthly seminars at Council Tree presented by North Park Theological Seminary faculty. July’s seminar will be presented by Nathan Clayton, NPTS Faculty in the Bible Field.
The Book of Psalms: A Journey from Lament to Praise
The Psalms give us words for every season of life—joy, grief, confusion, anger, trust, and hope. But they are more than a collection of individual prayers. The Book of Psalms is carefully shaped to guide God’s people on a journey—from honest lament in the midst of suffering to deep, resilient praise.
In this interactive workshop, we will explore how the Psalms teach us to pray when life is hard, how they form us in worship, and how they draw us into a deeper relationship with God. Along the way, we’ll discover key “hinge” psalms that mark the movement of the whole book and help us see how lament and praise belong together in the life of faith.
This workshop will include teaching, guided reflection, and practical tools for using the Psalms in personal devotion, pastoral care, and congregational worship. Whether you are new to the Psalms or have loved them for years, you will leave better equipped to pray them, live them, and lead others through them.
