Special Events

Life in the church wouldn't be complete without an occasional spirit-led event.

Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Christmas time 2025, we all gathered for a church Soup Potluck, and then participated in the Best Christmas Pageant Ever.  What made it the best?  Ever single person participated -- either by dressing up as a shepherd or an angel -- and we acted and sang our hearts out!

River Baptisms

If requested, we all head up Poudre Canyon for a full-body river baptism in the Poudre River.  We sing and celebrate together the commitment to Christ through baptism.

Engage Wind River

The lands in Fort Collins were originally home to the Hinono'eiteen (Arapaho), Tsétsėhéstȧhese (Cheyenne), Nʉmʉnʉʉ (Comanche), Caiugu (Kiowa), Čariks i Čariks (Pawnee), Sosonih (Shoshone), Oc'eti S'akowin (Lakota), and Núuchiu (Ute) Peoples. In the 2nd grade, students here in Fort Collins learn about the land before colonization, talking about the history of our community. Within those lessons, they talk about Chief Friday (Warshinun) of the Arapaho Nation. While they faced a lot of hardship in that time due to the increased tension and growing number of settlers in the area, Chief Friday led his people to try and make peace, often meeting under the Council Tree which is the very namesake of our church.

If you are not familiar with this story, I invite you to read this short article Friday the Arapahoe  and watch this 3-½ minute video featuring Hubert Friday, great grandson of William Friday William Friday Video.

In 2025, we set out to provide an intergenerational experience to engage our local history and the Northern Arapaho people.  We've gone to Wind River, and we've hosted them here.   We are growing together in understanding and fellowship.

Longest Night Service

Every December 21st, Council Tree Covenant Church offers a special service:  The Longest Night Service.

This contemplative service offers time for remembering, sharing our hurting places with God, and preparing our hearts for the coming of Christ.

Join others for whom the Christmas season is bittersweet to hear scripture, offer prayers for healing and wholeness, and to sing hymns that acknowledge God’s presence with those who mourn and grieve, with those who suffer, and with those who struggle. God is the light shining in our darkness. All are welcome!

Song Writing

2025SongwriterCircle.jpg

Have you ever been inspired to compose a worship song to praise God?  To express your faith journey?  To share a lament to our Lord?

Last year, a group of us gathered in a song-writing forum to do just that.
