FAQs

What makes Council Tree Covenant Church unique?  Here are some FAQs about our church.

Q: What is your church’s approach to reading the Bible?

A: We believe that the Bible must be read and understood in the context in which it was written; extracting Scripture verses out of context is discouraged. We also recognize that diligent Christians who study the Bible prayerfully and thoroughly do not always share the same interpretation. This is a humbling yet glorious perspective.

Q: Are women limited to what leadership roles they are allowed to fill?

A: We believe that women and men are equals in the eyes of God and that spiritual gifting should be the primary criteria for leadership.  Consequently, we have women and men who serve at all levels of leadership in our church and denomination.

Q: What political direction does your church lean?

A: We seek to be a church that ministers to people across the political spectrum.  Consequently, we have a range of political beliefs within our body. People are encouraged to understand a range of views on cultural issues, and we strive to discuss important topics with the intent to honor and hear others' points of views. We love the learning and growth opportunities afforded to our community where different political beliefs and cultural backgrounds are welcomed.

Q: How large a congregation are you and what are your growth goals?

A: We are a small to medium sized congregation where we can all gather for one service. This enables members to easily mingle and share in community.

Q: What is your worship style like?

A: Our Worship style combines contemporary and traditional elements. One might experience a mixture of an old favorite hymn played on a guitar, a traditional call-and-response, a worship song that is brand new or even composed by our Worship Pastor.

Q: How often do you celebrate communion?

A: We celebrate Communion during the first Sunday of the month, where we come forward, take a piece of consecrated bread, and then dip the bread in the consecrated cup of either wine or grape juice. Parents decide when their children are ready to receive the elements. Those who do not want to receive the elements can still participate by coming forward to receive a blessing.

Q: What else do you use your church building for besides worship?

A: We are blessed with a wonderful place to worship and grow. We have a full gym, classrooms as well as a place to worship and study. As stewards of God's resources, we strive to use this space to serve our community as well as our congregation. We have used these resources to minister to the homeless in Fort Collins (Faith, Family, Hospitality), to provide fresh produce and flowers from our beautiful garden to the community, to provide space for community groups to meet such as AA and Neuro-pong, and to provide a beautiful and safe playground for all neighborhood children to enjoy.
