Early Childhood

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord
Psalm 127:3a

We offer nurseries for both infants and toddlers during both of our Sunday services. Children will be in the infant nursery until they begin walking, and then are placed into our toddlers class. Each September, our three year olds will move up into our preschool Class.

Nursery Staff

Our nursery staff is all paid, trained, and screened, to ensure your child’s safety and comfort. We welcome volunteers in both of our nurseries. Please contact Sommer Nunan if you would like to be included in our next Early Childhood Teacher Training.

Checking In & Picking Up

When you drop off your child, please fill out the sign in sheet completely. If this is your child’s first time with us, we will ask you to fill out a short registration card. When you pick up your child, we will simply have you sign them out on the sign in sheet. We will only release your child to you. Please do not send a friend or sibling to check out your child.

It is common for children to cry when being dropped off. If after 5 minutes, we cannot calm them, we will ask you to return to the nursery.

We welcome your child to be in the nursery at any time on Sunday morning. However, we cannot legally care for your child if you are off church grounds, so please do not leave your child with us if you are leaving the building for any reason.

What to Bring

When your child is in our care, please bring a well-labeled diaper bag with the following items:

  • Disposable diapers
  • Change of clothes
  • Bottles (ready to serve)
  • Pacifier, blanket (if your child uses one)

Format

During the morning the preschool and toddler classes will participate in Wild, our summer children’s curriculum. Stories, songs, crafts, and other creative mediums will be used to share God’s love and Word with our youngest children. In the infant class, we use intentional music and manipulatives in the room to communicate Biblical truths and scripture.

Health & Safety Policies

Illness:
We realize that it seems some children have a runny nose from October through May, but for the well being of all of our children and staff, we ask you not to bring your child to the nursery if they've shown any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours:

  • Fever
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Green/yellow discharge from the nose
  • Persistent cough
  • Rash anywhere on the body

Cleaning:
All of our classrooms and nurseries are cleaned thoroughly and disinfected a minimum of once a week and wiped down after each use.

Diaper Changing:
Children will be checked and changed if necessary at least once every two hours. Please inform the staff of any specific things to your child we should know in regards to diaper changing and potty training.

Emergencies:
In case of an emergency evacuation, all children will be taken out the nearest exit. Parents can pick their children up from their teachers on the lawn across the street (Oakridge Drive) in front of the Ace Hardware rear entrance.

Snacks:
Please do not bring in any outside food. We will provide healthy snacks for your child to eat. Please make the staff aware of any allergies your child may have.
